Tour de France move over - bring on the Tour De Lauder and Sportive St Andrews!

This year CHSS are proud to introduce two new cycling events organised by our fantastic supporters. First up in April we have the Tour De Lauder a 50 and 83 mile cycle round Lauder and the beautiful Borders. Starting from Thirlestane Castle this is a hilly route with some fantastic views. Organised to raise funds in memory of Steve Cully this event has proved incredibly popular with local residents with around 80 participants taking part on 21st April.

If you fancy cycling for CHSS why not join in the Sportive St Andrews taking place on 26th August? Organised by Ky at Get Pedal Powered this cycling event is open to all and includes a family friendly 45mile cycle. For those wanting a bigger challenge there is also a 65 and 80mile route and all start from Madras College in St Andrews.  For more information on both events please check out our calendar below.

Dunbar Dip raises goosebumps and £3,000 for CHSS!

2012 saw the second Dunbar Dip organised by local resident and CHSS Shop volunteer Tom Waugh. Inspired by ‘dooks’ and ‘dips’ around the country Tom Waugh, 77, first brought this event to Dunbar in 2011 and raised over £1,300 for CHSS. 2012 saw the event grow even further with 50 brave dippers taking to the sea at 1pm on New Year's Day and over 400 spectators. In total a fantastic £3,000 was raised.

Sadly since the last dip Tom has passed away, however the community in Dunbar hope to continue the Dunbar Dip tradition in his honour so check out our calendar below or pop into the Dunbar Shop later in the year to find out the latest on this fantastic tradition set up by an inspiring individual.

Tractor enthusiasts raise over £10,000 for CHSS

A group of tractor enthusiasts raised over £10,000 in memory of Alex Duncan, a member of their group who died from a heart related condition. This fundraising project was a labour of love which started with the careful renovation of the 1954 TED20 Massey Ferguson Tractor and finished with an epic journey around various rallies to encourage people to buy raffle tickets to win the vehicle.

Reaching new heights for CHSS

Colin Gardner and Eddie Brandon are long standing fundraisers for CHSS. Together they form TeamABSOLUT and aim to raise as much money as possible by undertaking fundraising challenges. Colin is regularly seen at the major running events for the charity including the Edinburgh Marathon however they decided to reach new heights both physically and financially by trekking to Everest Base Camp in March. For this trek alone the dynamic duo raised a fabulous £10,000 and they are determined to top this in 2013.... watch this space!
